Sanding between coats

Is it absolutely nessesary to sand between coats of varnish?

as long as its been 24 hrs or less and the surface is slick enough for you then you can recoat with out sanding

It depends on the product and the amout of time between coats. The lable should tell you how long it can dry before you need to sand foe the next coat.
