I had painted the bottom of my barrelback19 prior to the flip and have recently stained and applied two coats of Pettit Clear Sealer to everything above the waterline. When is the best time to lay down the boot stripe? Is that done after a couple coats of varnish and then varnished over? Is it applied after the last coat of varnish? Also, how does one avoid the "ridge" that would be created between either the boot stripe and above the waterline or the bottom of the boot stripe and the bottom paint by the multiple coats of varnish? Can that "ridge" be wet sanded out?

i painted the boot stripe over everything. sanded the stripe's paint to level any ridges created by the underlying finishes.
