TAPE COLOR

Post by bobinpowayca » Mon Feb 15, 2016 8:22 pm

Howdy, I'm putting the final coats of paint on my Geronimo; I'm masking off the skeg and spray rails to do a different color than the hull.
I've always used the "blue" tape but it can leave a little residue. Just wondering if any of you have gotten a better, cleaner line with the "green" tape or the "orange" tape, or?? ///Thanks, Bob

Bob,
I used 3M automotive detailing tape. It is green but it is not the same green tape at Home Depot, which I think is called Frog tape. It comes in various widths and I bought some 1/4" so it could take a pretty tight curve. It seemed to work well.
An auto parts store should have it, but I bought it online.

Thanks a lot Bob, I'll check that out. I figured the frog tape was just like the blue tape except green. With the blue tape I was getting a lot of bleed through. As always I appreciate your advice. Bob
