Buffing out last coat of varnish
Do any of you buff out the varnish? I still have some specks in the finish and was thinking buffing it out would work, but I've never buffed out varnish before.

Re: Buffing out last coat of varnish
Give it a few weeks to harden up. I like to use 3M trizact sanding pads. The 3000 and 5000 grits will remove dirt and dust particles. Then use 3M perfect it compounds and foam pads. Then use a good wax. Be careful not to remove too much varnish because the UV protectants are in the top layer of the varnish. Over sanding will remove too much of the UV stuff.
I use a 6 inch ro air sander for the trizact and a Dewalt variable speed buffer for compounding. Use a spray bottle of water to keep the trizact wet.

Thanks Roberta. I remember a thread where you mentioned your process but I can't remember where I saw it. I'll look for the items you mentioned.

Roberta, do you think I can get by with just the 5000 grit or is the 3000 first needed? And I see there are several different Perfect-It rubbing compounds. Do you remember which one you used?

Re: Buffing out last coat of varnish
The 5000 should be able to get the dust and dirt. Might take a bit longer and need a couple more pads.
