My plans arrived yesterday. I've been looking them over and getting a better understanding of how to read them. I am a retired pipefitter and have been working off of prints for 42 years. I am accustomed to plan view and elevation view.
this will take some adjustment. ie, frames showing left side forward view and right side showing aft view on page 2. The dotted lines showing hidden lines aren't all that clear, but I 've got it. I've got 2 projects in my shop I have to finish plus clearing a build space before I can get serious about the project. I've been reading a lot of threads here and finding a lot of great information. I've also been looking for donor boat for engine, transmission, etc, etc. Found a 1990 supra with 351 ci engine and trailer for $4500. Too big an engine?

I think the 351 will work fine. Inboards aren't too sensitive to engine weight. Many people run more HP than I would. These boats were designed to run, mostly, under 40. Under rough conditions and too fast they can get dangerous.
Have fun with the build! And, post often with pictures! We like pictures!

I too am using a doner 1980’s tournament ski boat with a 351 rated at 240hp to power a 20ft Barrelback. I would prefer to use a 175-190hp V-6 but they aren’t as easy to find already setup as an inboard with a transmission. Most are turning a bravo drive unit.
Are building a 19 or 20 Ft version?

Re: plans arrived
I have a mid 90's 240hp 351 out of a Moomba in my 23' Tahoe, and get ~44 mph.
