Charlie... I went to a local saw mill and purchased an old oak fence post. It was quarter sawn oak and I had the them mill it to my specs. I think quarter sawn oak is a good choice for the motor beds. Some use aluminum or stainless "L" brackets. I epoxied the motorbeds to the stringers and thru bolted with 1/2" bolts.

Take a look at alycat's build. He used the aluminum brackets. I got the same, but have not installed my engine yet.

Look at my link below. About 1/2 down the page you will see my engine. A picture or two above or below you will see my mounts. I cut them from angle stock and bolted them together. A local shop welded them up for me, removed the fit-up bolts and plug welded the holes for $40.

i was thinking of lamanating 3 thicknesses of mahog to roughly a 4x4 does epoxying seem a bad idea kinda like plywood? i didnt think so myself... Thoughts? p.s. i have plenty of 7/8 thick scraps, thanks Keith
