I am nearing the need for a trailer. So I thought I should get an Idea of how much this craft will weigh. I am building a Barrel Back runabout that has been stretched 12 inches as per plans. I have selected Douglas fir, Sitka Spruce, Hydrotek Plywood, and Mahogany veneer for my timber. I will have a chevy small block V8 with Glen-L marine conversion components. I will attach a Velvet drive Tranmission between engine and drive-shaft. I was guessing about 2,000 lbs. Is this to conservative of an estimate :?: Any body have a SWAG on this subject? Appreciate the input.

Bob

Don't forget full fuel tank, battery, ice chest, misc. gear...

That said, for my stretched Tahoe 19 I bought a 2900# capacity single axle trailer.

My engine is about 700#. I think I came up with a 2500# or 2600# Max. for the loaded boat.

Well, Well, Hello Bob. It has been a long time. You have to post some pictures.

Plan on 2500# and you will be fine.

Glen-L provides this trailer design for the barrelback:

I estimated the key Largo i am building at about 2200 lbs before fuel, accessories, etc. so the 2900/3800 lb rated trailer should be plenty good.

And yes, pictures of your project will be greatly appreciated!
