So the plans are here and I am working out what I think I want???
Image
So,what do you think?
Dry stack, motor under a outside seat and maybe the sink on the inside? Side door. Was thinking of doing it in steel?
Does anyone know what would happen if the hole boat was inlarged by 10%.Like just blowing up a photo? That would make her 9' wide and 22' long. Just thinking. She needs to be ballasted anyway?
This is the 20'2" Titan.

Your concept is a very attractive boat and I would think functional too. The additional cabin space would be a big plus to me.

As to an overall 10% enlargement - Making it longer by adding space between the frames is a fairly common practice. But widening the frames for more beam usually is not suggested. Although it sounds simple, in reality it can get very complicated. If done the plans tend to become no more than a visual reference and you would end up on your own for most all dimensions and assemblies. Not that it can't be done as I am sure there are some that have but don't underestimate the large amount of re-engineering you would have to do to bring it all together.

A little more work on the 23' TUG! This is 15% larger on all.Next will be a test model at 1 1/2" to 1'. Has anyone built a side sliding door? I will need to get past the window to the rear of the door.Need some kind of kickout in the track ? Or,flush the window? Thanks for the input!

Tug; The problem with a sliding door ( other than the mechanics themselves ) is that the cabin sole is just below water level, and the side deck is over 2 ft. above it. Plus the fact the side decks are a mere 1 ft or less wide with an overhang above...........no place to go but over the side
I did some thinking on this one.
Actually with the extended hull and some modifications in the drive train area, I ended up with a 5 1/2 ft interior length, with enough room down below to install a proper head and holding tank and a small hanging locker.

As for the bow thruster, I would have to look at the hull to see for sure. (Now in storage till the new shop is finished )
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but just changed internet providers and had some problems with THEIR setup.

Looks good.

You have to remember that most of us on here are amateur builders that have to follow the plans with only small mostly topside deck/cabin changes.

While the lines look nice ,most of us have no input as to if the sheet panels will bend properly, and the hull will be balanced and run through the water with no ill effects due to modified designs.

We can support you in your efforts, and help with building problems, but not design changes.

(some have that ability, but not most of us)

Thanks,I mean no disrespect. The work I see here is from the heart, not from "plan's".Using some input from "Introduction to Naval Architecture" by Gillmer and Johnson,I feel that the resizing is not the problem, it will be the new balance and the resetting of the weights like ,motor, fuel and other things that can't move after install.Only so much can be done with lead! This I hope will be answered with the model testing? With a low weight I feel the balance can be made with a side cost of MPG,MPH,Knots.Keeping the C/G low safety should be meet. Moving into displacment/nonplaning will be new to me in building boats. My other boats we just fixed problems with more "POWER" and moving things around. As I work with boats, the one things that come from the builders are? well mostly drink holders and seats. When asked about their Naval Architecture, you just get the blank stair. So, I look forward to all the help that is here!My hat is off to all of you WOOD builders. For me I will be building in steel,it is what I know or think I know?

and it looks like they have been on the excessive version of the Glen-L diet plan.

A boatbuilder who isn't an "naval architect" can still build an excellent vessel.
However, from my considerable experience I have found that a naval architect who hasn't built boats is not qualified for either task.

Not sure Doug, but I believe he's talking about production boats here like(UGH...) Bayliner etc.

It seems most focus on seating/sleeping capacity, stereos, flashy graphics and drink holders!!
