The old-school tool-bags that lay out flat when you put them on the floor are great - Tools spread out so you can see them, easy to toss tools onto them instead of putting them where they'll roll off/fall through/forget where you put them, and you can just grab the loop handles & everything is gathered up to move everything with you.

The sort of thing plumbers used to use.

Hahaha! Nailed it! You'll be glad you have the steps! I wore out 2 step ladders.Ozzieboat wrote:Tony
10 reasons that come to mind why you'll be thankful for those steps,
wrong socket
wrong size terminal
dropped something, have to get magnet or fingers on stick
power lead not switched on
slotted not phillips
phillips not slotted
forgot spring washer
vacuum cleaner in vacuum cleaner out
forgot wire strippers
only had 4 pencils and 3 tape measures in the boat and can't find any of them.

All of your five tape measures have migrated to the workbench!
All of your pencils have rolled under the floor boards!
The only speed square (which normally stays in the boat) somehow ends up on the workbench !
On the other hand, the steps and the walking do my legs good!

Re: Tahoe 23
Earlier this year I went to a boat show and the only thing I came away with was a hearing aid show bag, how sad is that.
Re: Tahoe 23
Yesterday I finished fairing the sheer clamp so it is parallel to the deck beam. My personal choice of weapon to do the bulk of the fairing is a 4" angle grinder with a 120 grit sanding pad. Down side is it gets pretty dusty. I've tried electric and hand plane but the grinder works for me.
Today I fitted and glued the first laminations of the deck clamp. In total there will be 4 laminations including the mahogany filler on the outside edge. I will leave the mahogany filler out for the moment till I am doing the deck and get the sapele milled in one go.
So after this the jobs on the list will be clean out the glue dags inside the hull, finish fairing the transom and re-coat the inside with epoxy and finish with a bilge paint.
Pictures of the sheer clamp fairing and the first deck clamp lamination.

Today I faired the transom. It may need some fine adjustment when I lay the deck battens. Waiting on screws so cannot continue with the deck clamps at the momment. While waiting I can start cleaning up the inside of the hull.

Hi Tony, I am really interested in having a look at your work so far. I am just about to retire and am thinking of building a Tahoe 23 as a project over the next while. I am based just north of Brisbane and Tiaro would be a nice ride on the bike for a weekend away. If it is not too much of a problem I would love to come up in a few weeks time and pick your brain. i also have a friend who has just started a Biscayne 22 and he may also like to come up. Thanks
