Well have finished the mahogany planking of the hull. A bit of a milestone. Well Bill, it's the worst kept secret but I also hate sanding, but I guess I'll be doing quite a lot of it soon.

Tony

Looks great. Looks like you've worked pretty neatly. Sanding should go well. Check the epoxy information. If the info. says 80 grit, then there is not much to gain going to 200 grit. Just more work.

Bill

Congratulations, Tony! She's looking great--think of how buff your arms will be when you're done sanding

Well I have finished the first sand (40g). This will be the worst of it. Next I'll go over the hull filling any of the seams etc that need it with a mixture of epoxy and wood flour from the sanding. Then a 60g and 80g sand to take some of the sanding scratches out and we are ready to drill holes in the hull. This bit is scary. No room for error here.

Looks good Tony. You are at the exact spot I am with my Belle Isle project. All the mahogany on and sanded with 40 grit. I planned on sanding with 60 grit, then 80 grit and have it stained by the end of November. The 60 and 80 are taking waaayyy longer than I expected. So long, that I simply gave up after a few days. I'll take a few months off and hit it again after the holidays.

I asked others about the time needed for the 60 and 80 grit. I got several responses in the 6 month range. Ugh! I was not expecting that.

So...not to to bring you off the high I'm sure you're on, but let me know if you figure out this finish sanding stuff. I'm lost and would be happy to follow your lead.
