The boat looks great! 24x30 is a good size for a shop. I had 24x24 in NC and it was enough for the boat plus other projects. If you can make your door slightly higher than the standard 7' you'll be doing yourself a favor.

Just my input here; Both times I built my own garage/workshop, I clad two trusses both sides with 1/2 " plywood. This allowed me to fasten steel plates to them with eyes protruding through the ceiling. (I always built my own trusses!) Pick your locations carefully for this and you will use the eyes many times during your build. They will support the boat . ( I use 4 1/2 ton chain hoists.)

Hey Kelly - All good down here. Was really just a rain event in here in Panama City with a nice breeze. You all probably got more than we did.

Thanks for checking on us!

Another update on the boat house. Wish I didn't travel so much with work, but that's how the bills get paid.

Tcough,

Did you ever give any thought to extending beyond the plans? I’ve considered extending out to 23-25 feet. Also, I’m trying to see if there would be an issue modding the transom area to house two engines. The goal would be two 90 hp outboards.

Conrad,
Never thought about it. This is my first real effort building a project of this size and wanted to be cautious, so I only extended it per the plan recommendations. At 19'-9", it should be plenty for my needs, maybe a little more than needed, but you can never have enough boat. Going out to 23-25 feet may introduce some issues with balancing the loads, but if you're looking at twin 90s, you may need to get it to work. I would suggest you call the good folks at Glen-L and bounce your idea off of them. Or perhaps someone on the forum could chime in.

Regardless - best of luck and enjoy the build. I'm almost done with the "boathouse" and can't wait to get back on the FF build.

Tracy
