Pictures of the kick panel in front of the back seat (last picture). The plywood insert will be covered with matching upholstery like the original boats were. The insert panel will be screwed to the framework from behind. The entire kick panel will be held in place with cleats on the sides, and a molding on the top. I'm thinking that I might just go with the light tan upholstery in the picture below. The first two pictures are from original boats.

Here's the final panel with trim pieces attached. The white plywood will be covered with upholstery to match the seats. The floor will be covered with white vinyl from Classic Boat Connection. If you look carefully you can see a small piece of it under the right trim piece. I won't have to cut the vinyl around that piece later as it will slide underneath. I am going to put that same vinyl flooring in the storage compartments under the seats.

Jim,

I love the two tone effect. Really going to pop when finished. Looks good now. One thing about the woodies being built in this group, not a pig in the bunch. All beautiful ladies.

Got the shifter assembly installed. It's a package I got from Calif Classic Boats. The shifter and the pivot thing are originals. The aluminum assembly is a detent assembly that has a stop for forward, neutral, and reverse. Without it, the weight of the shifter could cause it to pop out of gear, or even worse, cause it to go into gear at the wrong time. A standard cable will run from the detent assembly to the transmission.

Jim, this looks way cool. I'm reminded of the old hot rods I used to see in Hot Rod Magazine. Very cool indeed.

Very nice!!! Are you going with carpet on the floor or planking? Also, how thick are your ceiling boards? Those look very nice with the cubbies!!! Shifter is awesome!!!

Hi Will,
I got some of the vinyl flooring from Classic Boat Connection like I saw on an original boat at the Tahoe boat show. It's white and has a pyramid design. (see pic below) The flooring will be painted with chris craft red paint like they used on the original boats. The floor mats will be cut and placed over the painted floors. They will be removable probably secured with velcro.

I resawed and planed the ceilings down to 1/4". I would suggest not going any thicker because you have some bending to do. I also had to add supports to the frames for the ceilings to attach to, because the frames are shaped differently. I wanted the ceilings to be straight from top to bottom.
