Looking good. It's fun when the frames start to come together. I would recommend doing a couple of encapsulation coats on the frames while you can lay them flat. I'm really glad I did so.

Thanks. That's the plan. I will glue them up first, set up the level line, dry fit the stem/transom knee and then encapsulate the frames and put it back together.

#4 is glued up! Slightly deviated from the plan. Progress...

It's fun when you start to see the frames describing the shape of the boat on the building form!

Frames 1-6 are built, 4-5-6-stem are being encapsulated. The transom knee has been built and encapsulated. I won't work on the boat tomorrow. Flying & the epoxy needs time to cure anyways.

I've realized that I'm horrible about noting people's responses on this thread. If you've commented or responded to a question, your advice and comments aren't ignored :). Work and 3 toddlers can keep me pretty busy ;) Thanks!

Here is a photo stolen from another boat builder on is hull strakes. I really like the look of them on the hull. Thoughts?

By the time I got to that point...I wanted to get it done...and painted. ...so I picked a different way...!

It's great if you like how they look but once you flip the hull you'll never really see them. So unless you have a specific reason to have them it's a lot easier just to fit a skeg. This is from the Glen-L catalog: "Regardless of power, FLATS FLYER pops on plane in an instant without noise-inducing lift strakes."

Fair. I read that, but I also know it has a hard time with sliding because of it as well.

Frames are now hanging on the form and half of the transom is built.

I like this stage! It's your first look at the real size and shape of the boat!

Looking good! Now you get to see the shape full size. That boat is a great design.

You're making great progress Conrad and will be caught up to me in no time. This was the exciting part of the build for me so far, seeing it take shape and starting to get a feel for the size. After the flip, you'll really appreciate how much room is in it.
Happy Boating,
Tracy
