Chine landing

Hi all
Just a few hours away from attaching the chines to my barrelback.
Not sure how to determine the landing point on the stem for the chine.
This is not something I want to DO OVER ,but it may be an appropriate name for the boat.

I can’t tell you exactly where the chine intersects with the stem, but here’s what mine looks like. Hope it helps.

I don’t think that there is any exact point, to be honest I don’t think it is that important anyway, where the chine intercepts at the bow isn’t even in the water.

So long as you let it land naturally onto the bow and it looks pleasing to the eye it will be ok.

I have but the Belle Isle

Clamp it to the stem and adjust it up and down to get a fair curve from the rest of the frames. This is typical of all the Glen L designs.
Nothing says poor craftsmanship like wrinkles in your duct tape!

So the plans seem to be purposely unclear with exact locations because wood and each builder vary just a bit too much. Probably the best way to figure out the location is to use the chines like a batten. Clamp the aft half of the chine into the notches of the aft frames except leave it loose on the two frames aft of the stem. You then pull the chine to the stem where you think it should go and let it sit in the notches of those frames. Move the chine up until is just starts to lift off the forward most frame, that's one limit for location. Then move the chine down the stem until it starts to lift out of the second frame notch, that's your other limit. The location you want should be half way between those limits. Clamp it there and eyeball it for a "sweet" curve without any humps or flat spots, adjust it as needed.

Here's a couple of pictures of my boat.
I worked from the stern forward and just let if fall on the stem with the natural curve.
