New guy and Sequoia build

Postby mtnmice » Fri Oct 10, 2014 9:12 am

Hello Folks:

New member here; name Larry in Melbourne, FL. Just ordered a set of "Sequoia" camper plans and have a couple hundred questions. I am sure most of which will be answered when the plans arrive.

I would like to use a Northern Tool 5X8 cargo trailer as the chassis, but I have some concerns that the build wont fit into my 7'1" garage door opening. The trailer manufacturer specs say that the axle mount can't be reversed, so it may be the problem. I guess my first question is if anyone has used this trailer in a build and what about the deck height?

Thanks, Larry

Larry; Might be an idea to do your own chassis, that way you can use dropped axles to get your floor lower. I prefer to mount the axles and fenders if required on a length of angle, allowing me to slide them around to get the proper tongue weight,
