I'm new to this forum, was wondering if I could get some feedback on using metal c-channel studs verses wood? I have, what's left of, an old Shasta camper most of the siding, windows and door. Oh and the trailer and axle. I was thinking it might be easier to cut, bend and rivet, screw or weld but I don't know about structural specs. Please advise. Thanks so much.
When I built my modified dodge camper van (listed previously on this site...check it out ), I used 16 guage 3/4 x 1 x 3/4 inch channel for the side framework welded. I sheeted with 20 guage sheet metal. It allowed 1 inch for insulation, but the steel siding added a lot of weight.
