Camper conversion of stepvan?

Post by hseaver » Sat Apr 18, 2009 9:14 am

Has anyone here converted a stepvan into a camper, or know of any plans to do that? The page on camper plans for vans mentions bus conversions, which might be more applicable, but I don't see anything more on that elsewhere. Are the van plans extendable to bigger vans or buses? I've got a 77 passenger school bus which I crudely converted to a camper but now I just bought a '92 chevy stepvan with an all aluminum Grumman body which I'd like to do a bit nicer.

hseaver,

The Van Conversion plans are not for any specific size of van and no specific dimensions are given, so they would be useful for even a bus conversion.

Hey Gayle, did you see the date on that post ? Hehe...had to say it before someone else did.

It doesn't look like it from the online samples, but do the plans have ergonomic allowances like seat heights, upper cabinet height and setback, sight-lines, etc ?
If not, what are some of the standard resource texts designers use for this stuff ?

I figured she was going through some of the unanswered posts while the other bunch of flunkies were asleep at the helm this afternoon. My screen was all red when I came in from tying down the boat cover to the boat because of the impending winds..
