Look's Great!!! Smart idea to do the wiring and plumbing before the deck goes on. I protected everything with masking tape and wax paper so adhesives would not ooze onto the gauges and wiring when I laid down the decking. Kids look like they are anxious for you the finish the big boat.

It is MUCH easier to do wiring and plumbing before the deck goes on :!:

Added the boot stripe, which took a week plus, from the time I started taping, two part primer, and four coats of brightside. Just added the ski hook / tie down anchors. I always hate drilling holes in a perfectly good boat!

Looks nice!!! I cheated and used striping tape and buried it in the clear topcoat.

I thought about using pin striping as well but then wasn't sure how to 'imbed' the stripe. Roberta, since on topic, what did you clear your boat(s) with? I was thinking of epifanes clear varnish.

I know many people who have used epifanes with great results, but it really reeks with fumes. I chose System Three WR-LPU water based paints and clears. They roll on easily and do not smell. Water cleanup and water reduced. The trick with WR-LPU is to roll it on as thin as possible, do not overwork the stuff or reroll, keep a wet edge, and make sure humidity is around 50% or higher. You can recoat in about an hour and recoat as many times as you want in a day. Recoating must be done within 24 hrs to get a chemical bond. Wait a few days if you need to sand out any runs or curtains, but, you should not have any if you roll thin coats. Also mix new batches with every coat and wash out the roller for the next coat.

Thanks for the information....I ordered a gallon of System Three WR-LPU clear gloss. I like the idea of water clean up and water thinning. I read some reviews about difficulty with applying in low humidity conditions. That typically isn't a problem where I live, so I'm not concerned.

I added the plywood subdeck this weekend. I had one full sheet plus a bunch of miscellaneous scraps of hydrotek leftover from the hull. I originally ordered 7 sheets (8' x 4') and it turned out I used pretty much all of it for the hull and deck. For anyone else out there planning a zip, 7 sheets should be just what you need.

Finished sanding the edges of the plywood subdeck yesterday and started 'eyeing up' the mahogany deck layout. Looks like it should be fun!

I agree! Lots of fun now. While waiting for epoxy to cure i started to tinker with the interior seats. Not too much progress but no rush either.

Thanks for the compliments!
I just finished the coverboards. I used a belt sander to get them close to the hull and a palm sander to finish. A lot of sanding and my belt sander is big and heavy. Since you need to sand with the sander partially upside down it really gives the forearms a workout.

That looks great! Marking and cutting that inside curve was a stressful step for me but it looks like you got it no problem.

I will pass on some good advice I got from Dave Lott, when it comes time to fair the top of the deck after its all installed use the belt sander as little as possible and switch to the random orbit sander as early as possible. It will save you some gouges and big scratches that take a lot of time to remove.

Looks like its about time for the king plank! Keep up the nice work, almost there!
