Has anyone put the gas tank and battery (if electric start) far forward in the Glen L Skiffs to offset a solo helmsman's weight. I would think if everything was in the stern, the man steering may have to be using a long tiller extension on the OB. Or do these wide skiffs support alot in the stern ? I'm sure a second passenger would balance out things quite abit. Just wondering before I build mine for seating layout. upspirate mentioned the off center helmsman seating on the side rear seats a concern when solo in his skiff and the need for a cross seat so he could be on center. Thanks for the help in advance. Klitz

I was going to do just that with the fuel tank on mine....just haven't taken the time to experiment with it yet.

Wardy has used his much more since he has finished his....maybe contact him by PM and ask his opinions

Thanks for the info. I'm still looking at seating options. What you were talking about doing with the cross seat is what the Morbic 12 has, it pens you in but opens up alot of seating options. A negative would be you have to straddle the cross seat to go forward, not sure if thats a problem or not. I think I will build mine and then seeing it first hand will decide on a seating arrangement. Any thoughts on wheel steering with a sit down console? I don't want to stand. Klitz

A console with sit down seating opens up the boat for easy movement.

I like that idea, but didn't want to go that elaborate for our uses.

The cross thwart seats add stiffness to the hull, but I think with stern seat /chambers and bow seat/chamber the hull will be stiff enough.

wardy extended his his bow chamber farther aft I believe which would help in bringing hull stiffness aft too

With the flat bottom, this is a calm water boat though, so I wouldn't over power it as you might be inclined to do with steering and a console.
