Hi everyone,
I've been working on my tiny titan for about 6 months now and I'm getting close to the finish line. It has been busy for me between school, sports, and work for me to get it done but I am very close. It has been a wonderful winter project but its almost summer and I just want to get it on the water. I refinished the whole boat because the original owner used regular plywood instead of marine plywood and the wood is beginning to peel. I stripped the entire hull and sanded the topside to 320. I also soaked the wood with penetrating epoxy. The guy who built this boat used so much resin on the bottom it looked and felt like a bag of nuts. I sanded the bottom for 12 hours and finally the bottom is nice and slick (also sanded to 320). I primed the bottom twice and the topside three times. Before the final priming of the topside, I candled it and filled the depressions and scratches with epoxy and colloidal silica. The first coat of final paint went on last Saturday but since the cottonwood trees are blooming right now I need to wet sand it with 400 and then repaint it. The top is white with an electric blue emblem (the same white emblem seen in the picture of the link below), the bottom is going to be electric blue, and the mahogany along the cockpit is going to be varnished. I also outfitted the boat with a steering bar for the motor, a turn fin for the left sponson, stainless steel carrying handles, and 15 degree coaming pulleys. I'll post some pictures of the boat later when I'm at home.
Thanks for looking,
Dan

Hello again,
I just shot the blue on and in this photo the blue is still wet. The paint came out weird so I'll have to wet sand it and shoot on another coat soon.

Dan,

What was the issue with the paint and what paint are you using?

Bill

vupilot,
I bought the paint from Jamestown Distributors. The paint is called Pettit EasyPoxy Topside Paint and the same thing for the undercoater (Pettit Hi Build Brushing Undercoat). Also I bought the Epifanes Wood Finish Gloss Varnish but not from Jamestown Distributors but from Amazon.com. I hope to get it out on the canal later today to test it out. It hasn't been in the water for over 6 months!
Good luck on your projects,
Dan Scheda
