and build a Zip. Is there any information as to what I could expect to sell the TNT for? Is there any other who sold theirs and what was the selling price?

A pretty nice looking one just sold for $800.00 with trailer. Not sure if that included the Vintage Merc motor. It probably should have gotten more, but maybe the market and area inhibited the sale.

Wow...that is very dissapointing. I have almost $3000 in my build ( this includes trailer, boat, motor and ALL accessories). And that does not include the labor.

To give it away for that seems wrong.

Building a boat is rarely profitable. Most of the time you will never get back what you put into it. Heck, ... You would be lucky to get the cost of materials back and your labor, ... consider working for free when you sell a homemade boat.

Most people that make their own boats do so for a couple of reasons.

1). They dont have the money to outright buy a boat
2). Pride and bragging rights.
3). Something to keep you out of trouble

I sold my flying saucer for $2200 with trailer and motor. Market for homemade wood boats is small in the southeast. I dont think I could have gotten 3k for it.

I didn't expect to get $3000 for mine either, but $800 is VERY disappointing. I could probably get $800 for the 40 hp Evinrude alone, sell the trailer for $300 and make firewood out of the boat....ok, maybe not make firewood!

Put it out there for 1500. If you get 1100, you won't have to burn up the boat.

I don't mean to be a Debbie downer, the raffle ticket idea is excellent, but it might be against the law in your state unless you are a 501c-3 organization.

But here is how you do it:

You decide how much you want for the boat...let's say 3K is fair.

You sell 100 tickets for 30 dollars each (3K right)

Then you call the "lucky" winner and inform them that you have decided not to raffle off the boat after all, and you refund their 30 bucks. You now have your boat and 2,970 dollars toward your next build!

Steve

You guys might recognize that as a take off on the dead horse joke!

Do you happen to have any pictures of your boat?

I was thinking of building one but maybe buying one would be a better idea.

Um, ... That would be flat out fraud. You would be required to refund ALL money collected if you claimed afterwards not to raffle off the boat.
