2. this session I cut all the minor parts including the sides and bulwarks (I am still missing a few bits and pieces)

* EDIT: I changed the picture as I realized I had a better one with all the parts.

Cool! I would be very interested in knowing how many hours this build takes you also. Will be watching!

So far I have spent 8 hours cutting the plywood parts -I keep a log of all hours I spend on this project (It's hidden from my girlfriend ;-))

I have no experience in building boats, and I normally spend 8-10 hours a day managing a group of software developers - so my assumption is, that I will use double the time compared to someone who has built a boat before.

As for the plans, I am totally satisfied. Everything is easy to understand and the full size patterns makes it a breeze to transfer to the plywood. For curves I usually nail a few pins through the paper into the sheet goods. Then I check with a batten, that I can recreate the curve. The it's just a matter of removing the plan and drawing up the lines.

At 10 hours spent now - and I had my first glimpse of the shapes of the boat. See the pictures below :-)

I haven't glued anything yet. I have been holding back, until I could do several things at one time to save epoxy.
Next on my agenda is to coat the parts with epoxy and mount the bulwarks in the boat - and then fit the two sides.

Grakan,

Looks really great so far! The TT is a real gem of a design.

As you are joining the sides to the bottom sheet, be sure the bottom stays absolutely flat. Mine developed a slight concavity which required some filling and sanding to correct.

Regards,

Steve Hansen
