Thanks for the kind words, wingrdr. :) Stick with this forum and I’m sure your Squirt will turn out great. I was going to add a picture of my progress but it [the boat] looks the same as the last picture I posted. I’m varnishing and sanding and I’m ready to be done with this stage.

I picked up 2-12 foot pieces of ½” rub rail from West Marine. I made a binder so I could get by with just the 2 pieces of rub rail. I bent the end of both pieces of the rail and joined them at the front. I formed the back end with a grinder and hammer. My practice piece is by the bender. There wasn’t much extra, so I had to get it right the first time. I also added the drain for a bilge pump.

Steve,

The rub rail looks great. Very nice bend around the point on the bow.

I looked at the tool you made and I am interested in how it is actually made and how it is used. any chance you can provide a few more details with pics. Thanks.

Carl, years ago I made a brake tube bender and I just made this bender with that in mind. Instead of bending a tube, I bent the rub rail. I added a picture that shows the operation. If you would like, I can post more pictures of my bender....

My pleasure Carl. This forum has helped me so much, anything I can do to help I will gladly do. :D
Now I have to figure out why I’m not receiving any email anymore. :? I use to get emails when someone comments on my thread and the other threads I have been following. Anyone know how to turn this back on? :?

Everything is as it is supposed to be. :) I did receive an email notice from Flash and Billy C’s email. I haven’t received any from the other topics I subscribe to though. I will be watching and see if they are in working order as well.
How is your build coming along, Flash? I will have to stop by and see how you are doing. :D
Thanks guys,

Hi Steve,

Kathy, 2 friends and I flipped it 2 weeks ago. Since then, I finished the encapsulation of the inside and I'm almost finished with the deck beams and battens. Stop over any time.

Take care,
Steve F

New steering part
Done with the new house and all moved in. Started working on the Squirt again. Added a 1/2" white strip and a 3/4" blue stripe.
I'm working on the 20HP motor. Changing it from a tiller handle to remote steering. It turned out to be more work than I thought. Had to remove the engine to take off the tiller handle. Made a new part to replace the tiller handle and then put everything back together. Then I made a connecting link and installed it. Done with steering stuff. Now I plan on finishing the controls. Throttle and shifting and wiring. :)
