My Zip.

Postby cusoak » Mon Jun 22, 2015 4:30 am

Well this past Fathers day week was spent at a boat shoe on Conneaut lake in PA.
Put on by the Allegheny Chapter of the ACBS. The Century Boat club was there and Century Boats were the featured boat.
So not living to far from there we took our 1966 Century Resorter and the Zip. my son and I built.
There was a lot of great looking boats , But the Zip was the only Built boat .
The Zip got a lot of attention from visitors. Asking all sorts of question , like what year boat is that , who is the manufacture,
What year Merc is that , where did you get those mermaid boat bumpers, and the vintage life cushion.
We told the that my son and I built it and they were all amazed.
Then we talked to a lady that was there to shoot some video that might be aired on TV.
She like the Zip and wanted to know if we would take her out for a ride so she video the show , we did.
Then I was talking to a guy from Texas the had a place at a lake in New York he ask alot of questions as to where I got the plans and so forth,
we talked for about 20 minutes. Then he wanter to know how much I had invested in the boat to built It. I said about $9000., Then he said I will give you $20000,00 for it.
I just did not know what to say figuring he was kidding. Then he asked for a contact number I gave him my card and he I will be in tough.
We went to an awards dinner Saturday night with all the boat people that brought boats.
Here is a picture of our finished Zip. Name is Zipper built by PetersCraft.

Congratulations. I really like hearing when a homebuilt can stand out like that in a crowd of antique beauties. Great work. The boat looks fabulous.
