Hi everyone, I've started my Zip build, and I am pretty happy with my progress so far and with the build quality. Here's a few starting shots...

Re: Steve B.'s ZZZIP Build
Thanks Roberta! You might notice in the last pic, I used white oak for the keel and chines. I thought these pieces would be more durable than if I used the mahogany. I soaked the chines in the lake for a day before bending them. Yes it took 2 of us and a lot of clamps! Went off pretty well. I also used a spacing block on the breasthook so I could set the chines to the correct height on each side of the stem.

Nice looking wood, and nice looking construction. You’re a craftsman!

Are you really working as fast as the dates on posts of the pictures?
If so thats amazing progress.

Re: Steve B.'s ZZZIP Build
I have been at it from the 8th of September. My first post was on 9/27, with a bunch of pics to start the first posts. Since then its been real time posts. The only thing holding me back is waiting for epoxy to dry! To date I have about 100 hours into the build. Ps... Yes I’m retired!
