Found a Home Depot that is about 40 miles away. Not too bad so looks like I will be going with the Ridgid model that was suggested if I like it when I actually put my hands on one. Looks like you get the best of both worlds out of it.

As a bonus my Building with Plywood book arrived today.

I've had many random orbital sanders and the best one of the lot is the Bosch that Lowes sells. Even though I can hookup this sander to my dust collection, I don't unless I'm doing a LOT of rough sanding. The dust collection box that comes with this sander does an excellent job of keeping the dust under control much better than any bag system I've ever used. It has six variable speeds which comes in handy for different tasks. I used it last night in between coats of varnish and 220 grit on the lowest setting and turned around and used it on it's highest setting with 60 grit to tweak the arms on some sliding leafs for the dining room table.

This is the one tool that always gets used on all my projects. It's tough; I've dropped it, run it for hours, etc. This is one little sander that will not let you down!
