Does anyone know the durometer of polyurethane keel and bow rollers? In particular, I want to know if they are softer than rubber.

i don't think they are softer..i just think they hold up better.....i know that they take the paint off of my skeg and keel! In hind sight, i woud have gone with the black rubber ones.

Difficult question to answer? Hardness of elastomers is determined by the compound and it's cure and there are hundreds of thousands compounds. Urethane's outstanding property is it's abrasion resistance. Without checking the finished product with a gauge like the "Shore A" or useing the makers tech sheet, if available, any hardness is purely guess work.

I found a pretty soft yellow transluscent three piel bow roller at Gander Mountain today and picked it up. All the rubber stuff was pretty hard, but the poly stuff was hard too (other than that one bow roller which was probably TPR stuff).

I guess I'll go with the rubber then. Thanks.

Just beware black rubber makes black marks, esp after they get a few years old....plus they get harder with age.
