Hey, thanks Wayne,

The plan is for a look much like on my avatar pic to the left, so a super dark blue hull, with white bulwark and white cabin structure.

Still a long way to go till that though.

Ya, I should have called you. I would have really liked to see your work of beauty in person. It was a quick in and out for a two day conference and two days with my son, so we were booked. If there's a next time, I'll definitely take you up on the invite to call, thanks.

You didn't mention what colour you're painting your tug. What's the cosmetic plan?

... A joint decision ... made by her and herself. Cool. I think turquoise would look pretty cool, but whatever it ends up being, she'll be a beauty for sure. The lines on tug boats have their own classic style that stands out so uniquely. Paint won't change that much in the end.

I recently bought the mahogany for the cap of the bulwark. The wood is such a nice colour that I'm thinking of leaving it natural and varnishing. That's a pretty big deal for a guy like me who's into low maintenance, but since it's not practical to fibreglass them, I figured I might as well go with epoxy and covered by a good varnish. I'll have to consult my sailor friends on that score, as I understand there's been some new product developments in the area of toe-rail varnish that breathes and you don't have to strip completely when redoing.

The flip went well. Had trouble uploading the whole picture sequence, but managed to get the final pic of her uploaded.

Looking forward to building the cabin. Thoughts, tips, advice and points of caution are solicited and welcome, as I start something very new.

Thoughts after the turn...

I know you have. But, really think thru your electrical and mechanical work. Make sure you can get to everything and don't build yourself into a corner. This will pay off for the life of the boat.

Bill

Thanks. All good advice and words of encouragement are always welcome too. I think I'll start the electrical and steering planning next and focus my building around those aspects, so the dash, wiring and fuse box etc. All new territory for me.
