yesterday I made a new center section of the rear hull/aft section.....and glued it all together.....Today I installed it.....it went on w/o a hitch....but now there is a void between my tunnel side pieces and the center section.....so I went ahead and made a pattern...so I can make new tunnel sides...that will meet the aft center section......I will keep/modify my original plans/pattern.....for any one that is building the 18ft...tugg-along....and needs the info..I will upload more pix tomorrow

Hey Wayne,

Your mod to the tunnel sections will work fine. I did the same. Fill the space from the existing tunnel to the stern arc and then take the additional cut out tunnel section and add it to the inside of each tunnel section. Fillet, sand if necessary and fibreglass tape the seam and she'll be solid. You're in effect butt blocking the slim piece that fills the void space between the stern end of the tunnels and the inside of the stern arc.

She's now a boat. Wow.

today I made new tunnel sides to include the extra material to make up for the shortage in the plans.....also started my transom...temporally screwing everything together...it fits the boat 100%. All points meet where they need to at the sheer....so the bulwark will fit .....my friends came today and are amazed at the progress I've made in the last week....I also glued the sides to the aft stern where they meet...according to the plans I had to add 2in. to the stern end panels...which will allow for trimming.........I had to trim approx 1/4 of an inch off of each end panel.....after gluing.I took a tape and measured from a center line/string.....both sides are on the money....I'm amazed........!!!

today I cleaned up the joints where I glued the stern section to the side panels...I started making a diagram for the motorwell bulkhead....and add'l transom board....I may run the 2nd transom board all across the back to meet the aft stern side panels...this will tie everything together....in the back end of the boat...and extra sturdy...kind-a like a unibody car.............I also worked on shaping the pieces I had previously glued up to make a stem for the bow....not sure how they will fit...may need more work on this ............more tomorrow....

I managed to get some panels cut and ready to fit them together. I'm starting the splash well....and am going to incorporate some storage area behind the motorwell bulkhead....and also am considering a seat in the aft rear on each side...or else straight across the top of the splash well area.....any opinions....on my thoughts...please voice them.....thanks and merry christmas/ happy holidays

Hi Wayne,

Regarding the seating idea, I'm planning on designing and building seating right around the sides, from the motorwell sides to the cabin bulkhead. This is for two reasons: I need storage space for lines and fenders; plus, you'll be hard pressed to get out of the boat or even get up onto the side decking without out some sort of step, so it may as well be a permanent seat and in which case it can double as storage.

Get inside the your boat and stand at the aft end and then consider how you're going to get out, given that you have to add about 7" of bulwark above the sheer. I think you'll see what I mean.

Nice work getting the transom in, BTW.

Richard
