Wow! Beautiful Neel! I am so jealous. The help from the forum makes a novice builder finish as a pro :-)

Are you sure you're not a pro? That looks just great.

She is beautiful! Did you use RAPTOR composite nails and staples? How did you like them? Would you recommend them to anyone else?

Thanks everyone for the compliments. My friends, most of whom are not into boating, have told me how nice it looks, but when the nice words come from a fellow boat building enthusiast, it really means a lot.....Thanks. As far as the Raptor, I did use it on the two layers of the 6mm diagonal plywood planking, but decided to go the staple route on the mahogany. I think the trick with the Raptor would be to nail the brads through a scrap piece of wood into the mahogany and then tap the scrap to break the brad off after the epoxy sets. Even with the air pressure adjusted, there would be a slight chance of the brads setting below the mahogany surface. It would be much better to ensure they are sitting proud and then sand them down. I used the brown brads for the plywood just to see how they would look, and I don't think they would show if you planned to stain the mahogany. Again, thanks......Neel

You are going to drop your teeth when you glass it! And, what you have left will come out when you clearcoat :!: :)

Well, I am sort of patiently waiting for the fiberglass Vernatube I ordered to glass in the shaft and rudder holes. After the tubes are glued in and faired, I will fiberglass the bottom to the waterline and then paint the bottom. The flip is next after that. While waiting for the tube delivery, I found another project to work on !! I built the cradle and a rolling cage which attaches to the cradle. It was not an exciting build, but at least it is over......Here are some pics...... Neel

Do you actually have a day job??? Is it boatbuilding by any chance???

That is fantastic work Neel, and so fast. I love that flippin jig. Might have to copy that for mine. With that jig attached and the Bobcat fitted with forks, I should be able to have a one man flippin party... ;)

I must admit Glenn, I am pretty much retired at the moment (hopefully it will stay that way). I do have a couple pics of the cradle that I copied from a cradle pictured on this forum. I can't take credit for the design. My best friend (Abbey the dog) helped make the job much harder than it needed to be. It is simple to build and not that heavy. Basically a few 2X6's and four wheels. The 2X4's are spaced so they line up with the stringers. I then covered them with carpet.... How are you coming with the planking? You should be closing in on it by now..Take care,,,Neel
