Hi...
Today I drilled the prop shaft hole on the Belle...down 1 drill (burnt out the cheapy)... I am very happy with the result and the exit point inside the hull is smack on the centre line.. :D :D Also drilled the rudder hole as well, just need to Mark the water scoop location and drill...any advise on position of the scoop?? Will now pass the drill to Old Aussie to drill his hole on the Riviera...

Looks Great.

Obviouslly, the scoop is always in the water when on plane. But it also needs to be off to the side so it won't cause turbulance to the prop. You also want to think about where the trailer bunk will be.

Hi,
Still moving forward with the Belle, on the final layer and only got one side to go....

Have bought the engine for the Belle this week...have found a 454 big block Chevy!! :D :D it is a reconditioned engine which comes complete ready to bolt in...It is not in my local area so Old Aussie went down to check it out for me... Will be picking it up after Easter.....can't wait...

should be enough power  :D
any idea if it is any taller than the SBC? my 350 just squeaks under the hatch covers, so good time to adjust deck height/arc to suit your engine.

Hi all,
Went down to Bundy (7 hour trip for me, but stopped over at old aussie's on the way) and picked up the engine for the belle...
Engine needs to have some cosmetics done but the guy run it for me and sounds sweet...
While we were there old aussie (Peter) asked if the shop gets in a 350 chev marine engine to let him know...as it happens he had a 330hp Pcm on the shelve...he got it down and also fired it up...another sweet sound.
So when we left the shop it was with a 454 big block and a 350 small block in the trailer...both very happy and only $7000.00 for the two engines..... We did forget to take a pic of both together...

as a Sydney lad, it still blows me away those FNQ distances! 7 hours is nearly Sydney to Melbourne!

Nice looking motor!

Craig.
