Was wondering if someone can post pics of their spray rails..

Do you have it running along the whole length?

I mad some today and laid them of the boat... maan i dont really like the look of them!! :s

I was thinking to glass the bottom first then install the rails epoxy and varnish. Is this how its usually done?

Regards
Zane

Zane, you talking about the ones that follow the chine, or the short ones near the stern?

What do you find objectionable about the looks?

Either one would be added after glassing the hull....at least I did on mine(not a Tahoe, but still the same chine /spray rails)

I installed mine full length of the chine, after all glassing & paint. I did screw them on with good sealant.
I also bevelled the top edge to take away the square boxy look.

Here, I went out and got few pics. I made them of 1"x1 1/4" stock, scarfed to get full length. Tapered slightly towards the bow for a little smaller look at forward. The bottom inboard edge is square profile, attached to the topsides.
Does this help?

upspirate yes i was talking about the ones that follow the chine..... just think the boat looks a lot cleaner without them.
Although the ones i made dont look bulky. So we'll see how the end product turns out.

Thanx for the input and photos!!!

Cheers
Zane

Guys - I am wondering what the difference is between the Riviera and Tahoe on this matter. As long as I dont' come off plane in a hurry, I do not get wet at all in the Riviera. If I come off plane suddenly I will nose plow but that is poor boat handling to say the least.

No Zane I am not on my Riviera and unless I come off plane suddenly or plow a large wave we do not get wet at all. That is why I am wondering what the difference is between the Tahoe and Riviera. Interestingly, the Riviera sits much lower int the water at rest than the Tahoe and I would have expected to get wet before the Tahoe does.

The Tahoe has more rake in the bow also. I am very curious

Notice the difference in the bottom forward frames in each build. The Riviera has a concave shape, the Tahoe dos not. I believe the reverse curve of Riviera tends to throw water more outward.
Just my 2cents

I had not noticed that the Tahoe was not concave on the bottom at the bow. That would explain it.

Exactly!

The tahoe is more convex rather than concave at the bow and thats i guess why it likes to shower you !

Im building both the Tahoe and the Riviera and was looking at them side by side today and noticed that. Im still thinking maybe ill run mini spray rails on the Riviera anyways.

Cheers

Somewhere, I saw the style of the Tahoe's front section referred to as a "bell" design, convex bottomsides in place of concave. As I recall, the bell was popular for handling and getting up on plane a little faster.....although they never made mention of the "wall of water" issue!
