In some of the pictures I have seen of the riviera it looks like the engine compartment is open to the aft cockpit. Is there an option to close it to cut down on noise and accidental access or am I just looking at the photos wrong?

The engine is normally enclosed. You just saw pictures of somebody that was ready to get on the water. I've never seen a "finished" boat with the engine exposed.
