Hey Dean,,, I was just looking at your pictures to see how you started the interior framing and I saw the bilge blower hose running on top of the stb exhaust hose. I think we talked about the blower setup at some point, but could you refresh my memory? How many and where? How will you set up the hoses? Sorry, but I just can't figure out the right way to do it !!! Thanks,,,,Neel

Neel- I've changed plans from when we talked earlier. I'm now mounting two forward-facing scoops on the engine hatch and two rear facing scoops on the aft deck. One of the hoses you see above the exhaust will supply fresh air from a forward clamshell scoop to the rear compartment (hose mounted high). That aft blower will have a pick-up hose under the gas tank. The other hose leading aft and connected to the supply side of the other blower will be mounted low in the engine compartment, taking possible fumes with it. The supply air for the engine compartment comes directly from the other forward facing clamshell. Each of the blower exhausts is hooked up to a rear facing clamshell in the aft compartment. That electrical circuit, along with my bilge pump circuit will always be able to be turned on (if the main battery disconnect is on). I wanted to keep those two functions independent of the all the circuits controlled by the ignition switch.

The framing on the starboard side also supports the freshwater pickup hose running through it. The port framing supports the fuel line. Copper exhaust low, vent hose middle, water or fuel at the top.

I filled both the mother-in-law hatch and the engine hatch grooves.

So, both blowers will be located in the aft compartment by the gas tank? I think you are on to something Clever!!! I will have to ponder that. Thanks,,,Neel

I've been filling in the rest of the deck seams. Anxious to do a little final fairing.

How did you keep you stain from seeping under the tape. I just gave up with the tape.

I used a colored pigment that I stirred into the Cabosil thickened epoxy. I putty knifed it into the gaps. There seems to be a SLIGHT surface bleed into the mahogany from the colorant, but it sands out very quickly.

I think if it was un-thinned epoxy it would bleed more, but because of the viscosity, that effect is minimized.

I popped out my "pattern" motor for what I hope is the last time before installing the rebuilt Chris Craft 283. I then lifted up the rear of the boat so I could install my rudder. All went fine. the rudder is in and working

The ceiling is getting stained and varnished. The inside of the mother-in-law hatch cover gets sealed. Steering wheel before it's last coat of clear two part top coat.

Looking great,

One thing you may want to consider is any water that gets inside is going to collect somewhere around frame #4. By the time it gets deep enough to be pumped out by the pumps behind the fuel tank it is going to be bad.

Thanks Rich- I DON'T know where the water will collect when the boat is at rest, but when it is slowly moving through the water (pushing water before getting up on plane), the water will go aft. If there is collected water, I could pump it then.

As the boat will be dry stored and only launched for day cruises, I don't anticipate any situation where gallons of water will collect in the bilge.

I assume if the "at rest" collection point is around frame four, as in your Monaco, that I would relocate the bilge pumps to mid-ships. I am currently setting them up for switching on manually, with no auto-on switch.

Thoughts?
