There is another thread about swim platforms for inboards and that reminded me that I still wanted something for the Malahini. After a quick search, I found and bought this teak and stainless outboard swim platform. In the words of Flounder:
"Boy is this GREAT!"

Check your width and space remaining after you have the engine hard over... on my Malahini is was pretty narrow, but I also built a pretty wide motorwell. Get the dimensions, build a mock-up with cardboard and see how it fits.

If it works, then why the heck not!

I did some measuring and there was room. I think it will come down to how high I mount it. You are correct though, there is not a lot of room back there.

I like it.
I'll likely want to add one (or something similar) once I'm done.
Do you have a link?

I'll be interested to see how it fits and looks. I may need one eventually, as well.
There is also a model for outboards that removes one of the upper braces for an under brace and looks to allow more room for the motor movement.

Both are available from C-ME marine sales. http://www.c-mesales.com/contents/en-us/d39.html
They have free shipping.

I'm also interested in how it fits. I'll be using a newer Yamaha motor, hopefully it will fit with that.

I will let you all know how it fits when it arrives. I'll take some photos. jprice, this was the last one this particular seller had and I got it for $132 which included shipping. I have seen it for $200. If you do a google search for teak outboard swim deck, you will see lots of sellers. Soedesh, I have a 2007 90HP E-TEC, so if it works with mine, you should be fine with a Yamaha.

The teak can be made narrower for clearance if necessary.

In my opinion, if you have the room for the first model with the brackets at the top, it is much more user friendly when getting out of the water.

I had the second(outboard) style on my boat when purchased, and replaced it with the first(I/O) style and it's much easier to use

I also find a telescoping step with more rungs is better for us older farts, or getting out of deep water with scuba gear on.

If you narrow the teak, telescoping steps are available that are narrower too.....I found out you need to check that width the hard way!!!
