Well I'm confused. Having decided to put Lifting Strakes on my 18.5 foot powerboat (will have a v8 with a vee drive and has about is 20 deg v bottom), I am now thinking that maybe I have done the inboard lifting strake wrong. It goes all the way to the transom and what i am wondering is will this cause disturbance of the water flow to the prop and result in cavitation. Should I have ended the inner lifting strake say 6 feet forward of the transom.

Note that there are 2 lifting stakes and the inboard lifting strake is about 11 inches from the center line

Any help appreciated

My celerity blueprints call for the lift strakes to run all the way to the transom, but the innermost one is 18" from the keel. So I'm assuming that's far enough away to avoid any cavitation problems.
At 11"... who knows, it might or might not. But with the v-drive, would cavitation at the transom really matter? I could see it being a possible issue for an outboard, but don't see how it would affect the v-drive. (although I'm far from an expert, and I might be missing something here...)

I would think that the only time you might get some cavitaton would be in a hard fast turn.
