The plans call for 3/8 flooring. This seems like it is not going to be strong enough. I was thinking of using 3/4 plywood. Does anyone out there have any thoughts@.

I used 1/2 inch plywood and found it to be a bit flexible in certain spots. It required a few extra floor braces.

I used 3/8" plywood on my Malahini and its fine, however I also added more floor battens for more support. Also, because I added more floor battens, I added additional bracing to the boat frames where the notching was happening. Cutting out the extra floor batten notches made me nearvous, which is why I braced it with extra lumber.

If I had to do it over again, I would sandwhich two pieces of 3/8" plywood on either side of the notches first (like the corner gussets). I did mine afterwards and it was a royal pain.

Funny you should ask as I just cut out a new 1/2 floor for mine :D I had the lighter ply in her for the past few years and it was fine it's just sometimes you can get one of those heavy guys that jumps from the dock into the boat and your just waiting for him to go through the boat.
