Has anyone else ever built a Glen-L with a big block engine? Maybe it is common, but I was surprised when this guy sought me out to talk about Glen-L boats. I had seen his before and it was always identified as a home built. I suspected it may be a GL and on Saturday, he told me it was based off the Monaco plans but modified and has an Olds 455. As you can see, she is a real beauty and I heard lots of spectators comment on the fact it was home-built. Our dock card says 2011 Glen-L instead of home-built. Maybe I'll have that changed for the future. A couple of people asked me where they could find a dealer

Can't answer your question. But, I see he's next to a boat that was Allen Jackson's.

Your current approach is certainly the more "humble" of the two.

I offer only personal opinion on this, but I think the dock card should credit both - You as the builder, and Glen-L as the designer.

I have never seen a big block in a Monaco or Riviera... My guess is that you would certainly need to modify the height of the hatch to get things to fit.

I may be able to get them to G6. There were 2-3 people at the show who had Glen-L boats that didn't know about the Gatherings (including the Monaco owner). The only problem is the Charlotte show is the same weekend as G6 and one of the Glen-L owners (not the Monaco) is an ACBS Officer.

When he told me about the 455, I should have asked him to open the engine bay so I could take a photo. I never saw it open so it must be really crammed in there. Many of the others had their engine covers off/open.
