Seaknight Power

Post by Michaelanthony » Fri Jun 15, 2012 10:03 am

Hello all! I am considering a Seaknight build and was wondering if any one has used a 25hp motor on this design. Would it be way underpowered?

i think the Glen-L "Sea Knight" Test model was powered with a 25 or 35 horsepower and it got up on plane.

It looks like either a 1957 or 58 Big Twin 35 HP

It would be a bit underpowered, but probably still able to plane if kept light with minimal load.

BTW, I see you're in Rincon. I spent a lot of time down there back when I lived in GA. I've caught many fish from Ebaneezer creek and out of the little oxbow lake just upstream of where Ebaneezer creek flows into the Savannah river.

Thanks for the input.
Stan, Ebenezer Creek certainly is an amazing place... especially in the fall.

Hi Guys, many years ago, I built a Sea Knight, powered it with a 25hp. Yamaha, no problems getting it to plane with 2 aboard. Lovely design. Best wishes.
