I Love my E-TEC!

Post by jeffh »

Today, I drove up to the lake to bring the boat out of hibernation. I uncoverd the back, turned the battery switch on...walked to the front and pushed the horn button. A loud, strong burst indicated that the battery was in good shape :D I opened the valve on the boat lift and waited until the stern lowered. I held my breath and turned the key. It was maybe 1/2 second and...instant purring engine. The pump was working and she was peeing away. I lifted up the fast idle just a tad and let her run a few minutes before shutting down and covering her. It was a beautiful day: 65-degrees F and a nice breeze. But, I had to get onto my next 2hr conference call. So I raised the lift, recovered her and called it a day with the boat.

These E-TECs are so easy to maintain and self-winterize. When they say instant start, they really do mean it.

i can't wait to put mine to the de-winterization test! I recently moved and my move has put my boating season on the back-burner. Hopefully over the next couple of weeks i will be able to fire mine up as well!

Wow, metro Atlanta to Erie, PA. That is quite a change. You still in the insurance biz? When you do start her, all you'll have to do is turn the key. I'm serious when I say 1/2 second. I guess you are no longer a member of ACBS Blue Ridge. I thought I may see you up at Lake Chatuge in June.

Hey, my 1975 Merc fired right up as well. I did nothing except pump the bulb, pull the choke, cranked for about 10 seconds and we were cruising.

Good news Bob. So I can assume your boat also made it through the winter? When I pulled the cover back from mine, I was pleasantly surprised. I'll admit, I only pulled it back at the stern and just enough at the helm to start her, but she looked good. I still need to really give her a good inspection to make sure no varmints made their way inside, but I saw no sign of anything.
