i wanted to revive this thread to ask a quick question....

those of you with the yamaha 9.9 high thrust: which shaft length are you using -- the 20 or 25?

my builder is suggesting going 12 - 15 hp for the bo jest for push against current, but as tom as said, there's enough umph left in the 9.9 if necessary :)

:D What did you end up using?I got a Yamaha 9.9 high-thrust to put on my bo-jest.25 inch shaft.hopefully I will launch this summer. :D

The 9.9 will be fine. You hull speed is about 6MPH. If the current is 6, you aren't going any place. You won't over power it. Watching the current and avoiding it is far more effective than HP. I used to paddle up rapids watching and knowing how the currents worked.

More hp will help into the wind. For current stay to the inside of river bends going upstream, outside coming down. :wink:

Ahh Hmmm.,Bill. most of the little rivers up here have a channel so until the weeds grow up or the memory goes,I'll get grounded. :lol:
