Dad and I put in a full day today. Things are all coming together. Dad did a lot of sanding for the brightwork. Also installed the swim ladder, switch labels, two hinges, and buttoned up the wiring. Going to get registration completed tomorrow.

Dad said he was kinda getting tired of sanding. In my mind, I realized that yes he is a boatbuilder too now.

Matt - Looking good! - If you want to be extra OCD like I am...you can align the hex heads of the switches by setting them to the position you like and then tightening up the rear nut to hold them in position.

Chug, I just installed a fire extinguisher yesterday. Floating piece of rope? I tested the horn a few days ago. Scared the crap out of my wife!

Does that mean you're not going to align the screws either?

 I think the floating piece of rope(maybe 50 ft)is to tye to life ring or for tow rope maybe for you or someone elses boat.just thought I saw that in boaters regs.

No luck at the BMV yet. They couldn't figure out how to input everything. My options were: wait there until someone from Indy figured it out, or take off and wait for them to call me. I left because she told me it could take a "long time." I said how long is a "long time." She says "a day." Okay just give me a call. Gotta love bureaucracy!

Well, they ended up calling not long after I wrote that post. I went back over there and they let me skip the line and took care of it. Bill, I think they could make it a little easier. I think the intent is to prevent folks from getting new HINs for stolen boats but was that ever really that big of a problem?

 Sorry got confused on rope-Canadas rule is 49 ft of rope and anchor or secondary means of travel(paddle or oars)Mn.didn't say ,however a paddle is handy. I got my registration when I went in to DMV.then had to send to state for HIN.funny, the guys at state said only they could assign reg # with Hin #.ended up the same #'s AS dmv's tho.Good luck with the launch. :D

Chug, thanks all is well now. I thought I had to have a paddle or something too but I don't see anything about it in the IN boating handbook.
