Finished most of my steam bending today. Just have one more piece to go and that will get done tomorrow. This weekend will have to be dedicated to epoxy coating the inside bottom of the hull and next weekend will be dedicated to the bilge and side painting. Just got word that my motor and transmission package awaits me in nearby Mad City. I will be picking that up sometime next week. Can't wait to see that "Bad Boy"!!!

I love the way that design is shaping up. Just love it.

Congratulations on the delivery of the motor. Can't wait to see pics of that. I have a feeling that this coming year is going to have some really nice launches. There are numerous builders here who are getting close to that point. I hope to flip mine by end of summer. Come on 2015!

I was able to get the bends I wanted on my covering boards by immersing 5/8" x 1" X 20' Philippine mahogany, one at a time into an inclined 2" pvc tube, capped on one end and filled with water for eight hours. I took them out and clamped them into place and let them dry. Slight springback, but was able to clamp and glue easily. There was no discoloration of the mahogany. Bends got pretty tight by the ninth strip. I just alternated sides, one side drying, the other side glue setting. Went smoothly. Some of the strips also went through about a 40 degree torque twist as well on their way to the stern.

I'm amazed at your boat Roberta. It'll be a real show stopper (and screamer as well!).

Thanks, Billy, but I like the Blue!!!!

I have to say Crusader did a great job setting this package up. I can go analog or digital, it has the transmission and engine oil cooler as well as a fuel system cooler, it's all closed cooling, all the linkage clips are in place for the throttle and shift, great motor mounts and all the service items are well placed. I am a happy camper!!!

Those moments when things aren't going to plan and you find an answer are part of the satisfaction of this. I remember that my shop crane didn't want to fit under my friends truck to unload my engine. It was the first time that I used the crane. It worked out.

Now you have another 100 things to think about what goes next.

WOW! What a beautiful motor. I have been thinking of that same motor or a PCM version for my boat. Who did you purchase it from? I have to go now and clean up the drool off my desk! Skip

Thanks guys!!! I purchased the package through Marysville Marine Distributors. They have locations throughout the Midwest and we happen to have one in Wisconsin near Madison, which is not too far from us. After looking at a lot of the so called "deals" on the internet, I decided on them as I knew exactly what I was getting and everything was brand new and well put together. This package was just put together in the last month, the transmission just was made at Velvet Drive, and the whole thing was tested just before it was shipped to Wisconsin last week. So it is not old stock that's been around for a while. Many packages that appeared to be bargains were either clones, rebuilt, or lacking in much of the ancillary equipment. You get what you pay for. I have the mechanical hookup for the throttle and shift and the choice of going digital or analog for the gauges. I'm still up in the air on gauges, but likely will go analog.
