Making progress on my Monaco.

I spent some time the last couple of weeks, painting on the bootstripe and mounting the cutwater. I set up my laser again to mark the top of the bootstripe to aid in laying down the tape. It took a couple of coats of paint to cover, but it came out fine. The cutwater wasn't as easy to install. Even though I sent a pattern to the cutwater guy to make the cutwater from, the complex curvature of the hull made it hard to fit the cutwater easily. If I had any advise to give to someone considering installing a cutwater, it would be to get the cutwater before all the nice finish work is done on the bow. That might not be practical but it sure would have made it easier. I had to sand off all that beautiful paint and clear finishes on the stem to get it to fit properly. I made my stem sharp and there is a weld bead on the inside of the cutwater that makes it impossible to mount it tightly up against the stem. So I had to round off the stem and flatten some of the area at the chine to get it to fit. Of course that meant I had to refinish those areas before I could mount the cutwater. That just added about a week to the process. The cutwater installation was not a one person job. Fortunately, my friend Glenn was able to come over to lend a hand holding and pushing on the cutwater to get it installed. My trailer manufacturer welded my bow stop in place so it made it that much more difficult to work around. Glenn had a right angle air powered drill for the holes behind the bow stop arms. Need to get a tool like that! The cutwater guy did a beautiful job on the cutwater and transom bands and I am quite happy with the result. Skip

Beautiful, Skip- absolute eye candy! As to a name, I'll dip my toe in- there are too many boats out there with names like Harmony, Serenity, etc. Makes me wanna hurl. I enjoy seeing names like Fracas, or Fiasco or the like, but that's just my personality. Recommend against naming after any ex wives, but that's just good politics. At the end of the day, it's a very personal thing, and you'll be going so fast, all they'll remember is your stern as you disappear. So, make it a good one, and again my congratulations!

Making good progress on fitting the engine in the boat. I have a question concerning battery placement.

I am wanting to place the battery in the engine compartment, port side. My reason is mostly to counteract drivers weight on the starboard side but also want to move some weight forward a little. There is enough room to remove it. Fuel filter and fuel lines are on the starboard side.

Skip put his under the rear seat. I have room there and also under the front seat as well. Front seat moves the weight more forward of course.

Does anyone see a problem with the battery in the engine compartment? After all, it's like that in automobiles.

Any thoughts/advice will be greatly appreciated.

I have mine in the engine compartment/under seat ,Which gets nowhere near as hot as in the automobile engine compartment,
