WOW! Are you spraying varnish?

Nothing says poor craftsmanship like wrinkles in your duct tape!

Re: Aussie Gentry
G/Day Jim that one was rolled on, the first few will be rolled on using a 5" foam roller works well and not messy, depends on the finish i keep getting is whether i spray the last coat, only about 6 more coats Roberta......John

Re: Aussie Gentry
Great work John. I would guess this is not your first varnish attempt. If you can get a finish like that with the roller, I would keep the sprayer on the shelf. Is there any way you could make a short video of your rolling process for us?
Re: Aussie Gentry
Greetings! I apologize if this is obvious, but the purpose of the Ash stem strip?... Is that cosmetic or is it intended to be a ware and tear piece that can be easily removed and replaced in the future? That's the first I've seen this, generally I see the cutwaters, so I'm curious! Thank you, Shane!

Re: Aussie Gentry
G/day Neel yes my first ever attempt at varnish i did view a lot of YouTube videos to get some hints and i thought i would give it a crack as i could always cut it back
G/day Shane yes the ask is pure cosmetic and it is a pretty tough timber and i will put a small D or C mold down as well .........John

G/Day these are the products i am using to apply the varnish .........John
Re: Aussie Gentry
Thanks!
Well, I really like it! That Ash stem strip really sets off the front of the boat! I like this approach better than a cutwater, so I may be "borrowing" this little customization!

Re: Aussie Gentry
G/Day Shane yes i had made cutwater but i think the bow shape is to modern for it so i choose the Silver Ash, just make sure you have it wet i put it between the 2 trailer guards with a small rope in the middle on it pulling it down when it was raining here and it kept the bent shape so went down the stem well or steam it .........John
Re: Aussie Gentry
G/Day well weather here is getting colder and my days now for applying varnish, but made a progress the boat is now officially named, 3 more coats of varnish then it is flip time i sent a block in and other engine parts to get chemically cleaned so as to use for the mount set up ....John
