Handrails or lifelines?

Postby graham mackay » Sat Apr 18, 2015 10:44 am

Hi folks,
Now that I'm gradually creeping towards the end of my GL HERCULES build, my thoughts are turning towards safety. I will be carrying up to 5 grandchildren ages 5 to 13, and although the plans don't show forward deck rails I feel that I need them. Since I live in the boonies or outback on an off-shore island the chances of finding an installer of s/s rails are nil to less than nil. I'm thinking of sailboat stanchions with the appropriate vinyl(?) wire covering. What do you think?
Thanks as ever in advance, I don't know how I would have got this far without the forum.

Graham
I am presently constructing a Glen-L HERCULES, hull basically complete.Am going to fiberglass and paint bottom and then turn over. Sides to be planked with10mm yellow cedar edged bead and cove . Engine is Mitsubihi 4-cyl. 39 crankshaft hp.
