Me too! I think Innocence is Butch’s boat, Tahoe. Beautiful way to go for sure. I think that the Torpedo design would also look good with this option.

I had thought I posted a reply earlier but I guess it didn't go through? Anyway, I love Butch Barto's boat - it has been an inspiration for me throughout the build. I love the way he did the deck fixings, exhaust, and vents. It's a beautiful boat. Thank you for the support - It turns out I need one more fitting before the cooling system is officially done. I hope we can get the fitting in this week so we can clean the garage and we can hear it run!

A couple weeks ago we took the boat out test the cooling system. After fixing two heat exchanger leaks, we were able to start the boat and fill the engine with water (temporary in case there were leaks - there were none!). We ran the boat for 45 minutes: the highest engine temp I saw was at 203 degrees F before the thermostat opened and the temperature stabilized at 198 degrees. I had no gauges, I got these readings from the OBD II port on the engine. I was pleasantly surprised at just how quiet the engine was: the loudest thing inside the boat was the fuel pump! The exhaust was cold to the touch the entire time. I have a video, but the audio is clipping very bad. Ill see what I can do to repair the audio. So far, it seems like a success. All it takes to make it seaworthy is a driveshaft and a prop. The final piece of the puzzle is the top decking, but I don't have access to a wood shop to complete it right now. As soon as wood shops open up, I will be able to complete the decking, and hopefully get it in the water.

Glad to hear about the engine. Doing one would scare me to death. My hats off to you that can. She is looking great.

Glad to hear the engine is running fine. Just for interest my 1UZ runs at 180 degrees F all day. This temp is measured via the Faria dash instrument only. Likewise all I can hear in the engine bay is the Carter fuel pump on the surge tank.

Thank you! I wonder if my engine temps will get lower, once it is in the water since there will be more water moving through the system than our garden hose can provide. So far the Toyota 3-UZ seems like a good engine - I cant wait to get her out on the water. It makes me feel better to know there are other people out there with Toybotas.

Michael that looks terrific! As you suspect, the garden hose is not enough water to run the engine on other than a test. Must feel good having this much of the build completed. Hope the shops and wood supplies open up for you so you can get out and enjoy your build this season.
