I raised the arch of the frames aft of the forward cockpit 1 inch to give me clearance for the engine. No one notices even when you point it out.

Same here.
I raised the arch of the hatch about 3/4 of an inch. I wanted to keep it all under the hatch if I could.
Carbureted 350 chevy with a 1:1 velvet drive. The oil pan and the bottom of the transmission are about 1/4 inch above the keel, and the flame arrester is modified for clearance. It is very tight but it can be done.
