grommet question

Postby Jimbob » Tue Mar 07, 2017 9:20 am

I'm getting ready to drill holes in my frames for steering cable, throttle cable, & wires to the dashboard. Anybody using grommets? Or are you just letting the wires and cables go through the holes as drilled?
Thanks,
Jim

Jim

Steering and throttle I just routed the best I could and clamped it in place. Wiring, I drilled the frame then put PVC pipe through the holes and ran my wiring through the pipe. It's easy to add stuff later. Just put a string through the pipe and make a big loop to pull wires. Getting the string in the pipe is easy. Use a vacuum cleaner to suck the string through.

Thanks!
Sounds like a good idea. That's what I like about the forum, lots of good ideas I would have never thought of.

Thanks for the pic. I had a Wellcraft runabout, and was always impressed with the rigging in the motor compartment. I want to do the same on my build. Yours looks very neat. Is that orange thing your bilge pump?

To add to what bill said. ..you might just put a extra hole...and or pipe...there is always something new...or you just want to upgrade...

My 2 cents...
