New Boat---Squirt!!!

Postby Dwain the ski king » Tue Mar 14, 2017 11:26 pm

WEEEEELLLLLL, here I am 72 yrs old, and I'm building another boat...A Squirt this time...I have the hull all framed ready for planking...I'm in the middle of painting my MGB-GT, then I'll start planking..It's gonna be powered by a 181"-140 HP MERCRUISER MOTOR motor with the motor mounted amidships, and the I/O leg on the transom, with a shaft making the connection...Should be a ROCKET!!!!! I might get the motor in by summer, but now I have to find an I/O leg...The cockpit will about 2 ft. ahead of the transom, of only one seat...Will keep you aprised, and will try to send pics alter...Dwain, The SKiiiiiiiiiiiiii Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnngggggggggggggggg...

Hi Dwain .I am 70 yrs old and have just finished building a Renegade and put in a 350 chev marinised with a SEI sternleg .the SEII6 is an aftermarket of the mercruiser.Where as mercruiser only give 12 mths warranty ,SEI give you 3 yrs ,they are built in the USA . So far I cannot fault it.

Sounds like an excellent power plant / hull design match. So obvious and perfectly suited; it seems Glen would have designed it this way from the beginning. And BTW, I wouldn't stretch it, just stick with the 10ft version as you should have plenty of room. Alas, how high will the seat need to sit above the deck so that you can see over the top of the engine?

140hp in a Squirt? You might not make to 73 yrs old in a rig like that.

Yep, it's gonna be fairly fast...........IF it don't sink first...I'm guessin' at the balance point...Front of engine will be at the forward frame(about 5' from transom)...I'll be able to move it back or forward a few inches to get the balance...Plus placement of batt. and fuel tank...Outcome will Interesting...Hope to get it going by summer...Still looking for I/O leg...Dwain, the SKIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGGG.....

Hi Dwain

I'm pretty new here on the forum but I just wanted to stop by and say thanks for not letting me be the only one to fall off the deep end of crazy with their project!!

A 140 horse Merc with a divorced I/O in a Squirt! That thing is gonna fly! I love it!!

Good luck and I'll definitely be following along

Thanks
Dave :D

Doin' OK Ken, how's fishin'??? Having trouble with Bonnie...She's loosing her memory, slowly...(Alszheimers') I have to all the cooking laundry and housework, now...All she does is sit and watch TV, she can't rememberhow to do anything else...She talks to me and remebers some things from the past, but day-to-day things....Eventually her whole body will shut down...After 54 yrs. together we were gonna travel some more, but it would be difficult, now...I'm gonna sell our Motorhome, since we don't use it anymore...And the boat, it has been on river for 6 yrs.....Dwain the Skiii Kiiiing...
